Composer and theorist Karina Nesteruk invites us to look at music through the concepts of emptiness, zero, and silence. The focus is on questions about the nature of silence, its role in composition, and whether the absence of sound can be an expressive element. Participants will discuss unexpected connections between different cultural phenomena, learn about rare scores and artistic practices where "nothing" becomes a source of meaning. The lecture will touch on the works of John Cage, Peter Ablinger, and other authors, as well as examples where silence and pause are more important than sound.
