A lecture will be held at the Akhmatova Library about how the peasant year sounded: with carols, calls, Maslenitsa songs, and harvest songs. The lecturer Anastasia Ragozina is a researcher of Russian traditional culture. She will guide the audience through the folk calendar from beginning to end-from winter holidays to the autumn harvest-showing how each season had its own ritual and sound "language." Throughout the conversation, it will become clear where pagan layers are hidden in familiar holidays and where Christian ones are, and why these two layers have become so tightly intertwined.
