The lecture will show how digital maps, artificial intelligence, and urban services are changing the everyday experience of Muscovites. Using the example of the Gagarin district, listeners will compare old and modern maps, learn how we used to search for routes, and why technology increasingly influences the perception of Moscow. Today, we often perceive the city through maps on our phones, service suggestions, curated places, navigation, and digital layers that help us orient ourselves faster, but at the same time change the very way we view space. How did people search for addresses and build routes 100 years ago? This will be discussed in the lecture. Ideas on where to go in Moscow are collected on our website.
