The final meeting of the documentary film cycle will unite themes that were left out of previous lectures. Documentary cinema often promises to show reality directly, although each frame is already tied to the author's choice. The topics of the lecture will include propaganda and television, observation and editing, private fates and major historical events. Listeners will be able to discuss their favorite documentary films, share their own observations, and compare which techniques have a stronger impact on trust, emotions, and understanding of the events presented. The meeting will be suitable for those who have followed the cycle, as well as viewers interested in the history of cinema and the structure of documentary filmmaking. Prior familiarity with all course materials is not required. The lecture will be conducted by Nadezhda Grebneva - the lead librarian of the Center for Cultures of English-speaking Countries. On our website, we talk about free events in Moscow.
