A talk about the great landscape painter, his inner world, and the women who played an important role in his fate. The lecture connects a discussion of painting with the personal story of the artist. At the center of the meeting is the personality of Isaac Levitan and the subtle emotional tuning that fills his landscapes with a special lyricism. Sensitive to nature and people, a student of Alexei Savrasov, a close friend of Anton Chekhov, a professor at the Academy of Arts, and a passionate hunter - he embodied many facets, each of which found reflection in his works. Special attention will be given to the master's romantic attachments. His relationships rarely brought tranquility, yet these experiences became a source of creative impulse and left a noticeable mark in his paintings. Through the fates of the women close to him, listeners will be able to look at familiar canvases in a new way and understand how personal feelings transformed into artistic images. The lecture will be conducted by art historian Anna Zalavina - a lecturer and specialist in educational and methodological work at the Saint Petersburg State Institute of Culture.
