The history of St. Petersburg will be revealed through the fates of architects, writers, artists, actors, educators, and scientists of foreign origin who made the city their home. The lecture will trace their contributions to the development of the capital and will virtually follow the route of burials at the Smolensk Lutheran Cemetery, linking biographies with the city's memory. St. Petersburg was created through the efforts of people from various professions and backgrounds. Many of those who came here from other countries stayed in the city for life and made significant contributions to its architecture, culture, education, and science. The meeting will discuss such figures from the 18th to the 20th centuries and how their fates became intertwined with the Smolensk Lutheran Cemetery. The lecture will be partially structured as a virtual tour. Participants will be able to follow the burial route of architects, writers, actors, educators, scientists, and others whose names are connected to the city's history. Among them are Adamini, Arendt, Betancourt, Grimm, Dillon, Dokuchaev, Parland, Radlov, Syuzor, Chinizzelli, Engelhardt, and others. The lecture will be conducted by Oksana Reichert - a tour guide and local historian.
