About

What does freedom sound like and where are its boundaries? Jazz and cinema merge in a unique event where a discussion about "The Legend of 1900" transforms into a philosophical journey through themes of choice, measure, and art. Music, film, and reflections - in one evening. Can philosophy be conveyed through music, and choice through a soundtrack? Giuseppe Tornatore's film "The Legend of 1900" is not just a beautiful story, but a metaphor for existence that finds its continuation in the sounds of jazz. The film's hero, who remains forever on board the liner, is not a coward or a dreamer, but one who chose his boundaries as a way to be free. Music becomes his language, and the ship - a universe where it is possible to be oneself without compromises. This is what the lecture by Mikhail Vitushko, a philosopher and film critic, will be about - inner and outer freedom, symbols, frames, and meanings. The second part of the evening will be dedicated to jazz: musician and art manager Anton Kasimov will explain why jazz is more than a musical style and how it became the voice of an entire era. This context will allow for a new appreciation of the film's atmosphere, to feel every note, and to understand why jazz became the main musical hero of the film. The event is suitable for anyone who loves cinema, reflections, and music that makes you think. This is not just a film screening, but a meeting after which it is hard to remain the same.
