About

The philosophy of Hellenism is the search for meaning in a world full of suffering and anxiety. In the lecture by Konstantin Kazachenko, the focus will be on the schools that taught not the truth, but the art of living. Hellenism is a period when philosophy moved from academies to the streets, transformed into a personal practice, and became an art of living rather than just a search for abstract truth. A key feature of Hellenistic philosophy is its shift towards ethics. When the world was plunged into wars and previous orientations were lost, philosophy became a way for many to cope with anxiety and pain. The question "what is happiness?" became central, but no answers were provided anywhere except by one philosophical school. The lecturer will discuss how Stoicism, Epicureanism, Skepticism, and other directions developed. What practices helped philosophers remain resilient, which ideas were revolutionary, and which were naive? Participants will explore why these ancient teachings are relevant today: in an era of emotional burnout, anxiety, and loss of meaning. KudaGo features the current program for Moscow.
