What connects composers with foxes and hedgehogs? Writers, philosophers, economists, and politicians were categorized into these two groups - "hedgehogs" and "foxes" - based on the depth and breadth of their ideas. Opening the lecture series is Igor Stravinsky, a composer who seemed to embody both approaches. He rapidly changed stylistic masks, moving from folklore to neoclassicism, from expressionism to dodecaphony, while maintaining an inner unity. The key work of the lecture will be the ballet "The Rite of Spring," which once provoked a scandal and opened a new dimension of musical expression. We share ideas on where to go in St. Petersburg this weekend.
