The domovoy is a figure familiar to everyone from children's fairy tales and ancient traditions, but behind the image of the mythical "house spirit" lies a whole layer of folk beliefs, cultural codes, and everyday customs. In the lecture "Home and Domovoy," delivered by ethnographer and cultural studies candidate Olga Anatolyevna Botyakova, listeners will be able to peek into the hidden corners of Slavic mythology. The domovoy has long been considered the protector of the home. It was associated with both comfort and order, as well as unexpected incidents. It could be kind and gentle, or it could be offended and capricious. How to appease it? Why does it knock at night? What do disappearing things mean?
