This lecture will transport listeners to the very heart of the Silver Age - to the legendary Ivanov Tower, where Blok, Gumilyov, Meyerhold, and others created. The tower on Tavricheskaya, founded by the poet, thinker, and theorist of symbolism Vyacheslav Ivanov, became a center of attraction for the creative elite of the early 20th century. Within the walls of this literary salon, Blok and Gumilyov, Meyerhold and Bryusov, Zinaida Gippius, Merezhkovsky, Kuzmin, and other outstanding representatives of the era met. Here they read poetry, debated philosophy and religion, discussed the fate of art, and sought new forms of theater and painting. It was in the Tower that ideas about "life-creation" emerged - as the transformation of life into a work of art. The lecture will showcase unique photographic documents and autographs of Ivanov's poetic texts from the archives of the Pushkin House and Rome.
