About

This lecture offers a look at the poetry of Alexander Blok as a tense mystical experience. This evening will be interesting for those who want to delve deeper into the meanings of Alexander Blok's poems. The conversation will focus on hermeneutic analysis - that is, careful, thoughtful reading, penetrating into the symbolism and inner states of the poet. The lecturer will refer to the cycles "Snow Mask" and "On the Field of Kulikovo" to trace how a special space of anxiety, premonition, and spiritual limits arises in poetry. In these works, Blok's mystical experience connects with history, and personal feeling grows into a sense of catastrophe, fate, and the immense movement of time. A separate topic will be the metamorphoses of Blok's Eternal Femininity - from the Beautiful Lady to the Stranger, Faina, and Russia. Such a route allows us to see how the artistic world of the poet changes and how one symbol gradually fills with new, sometimes contradictory meanings. Through this line, listeners will be able to better understand both the inner drama of the author and the cultural environment of the Silver Age, where sophialogy debated with the gnostic myth, and literature became a territory of spiritual search. The lecture will be conducted by Dmitry Romanov - PhD in Philosophy, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Philosophy at RUDN.
