On September 7, the 'Community' space will become a venue for an open lecture of the St. Petersburg and Moscow Schools of New Cinema titled 'The Structure of Film'. This is an open workshop where participants can peek behind the scenes of the profession. Here, active directors, film critics, screenwriters, cinematographers, and sound engineers share their experiences, discussing the questions posed by contemporary cinema and what they expect from new generations. For participants, this is an opportunity to see how education is structured in the schools of new cinema and what the industry is living today. Day's program: At 1:00 PM, a dialogue between Lilia Shitenburg and Alexey Gusev titled 'Limits of Uncertainty' will begin, dedicated to how aesthetic and ethical guidelines in cinema have changed. The conversation will touch on the nature of the modern view of actor expressiveness and the role of directorial choice. At 3:00 PM, director and head of PШНК Nikolai Koval'kov will give a lecture titled 'Black Sun and Its Rays', discussing the nature of the cinematic image, its connection to the universal and the particular, as well as the boundaries of the explainable in art. At 5:00 PM, editor and educator Sergey Ivanov, who has worked with Alexander Sokurov, will take the floor. His lecture 'Cinema as a Spatio-Temporal Constructor' will focus on the role of editing in creating a film as a living sculpture that changes over time. The day will conclude at 7:00 PM with a screening of the film by Elena Gutkina and Heinrich Ignatov 'The Wolf and the Seven Kids' from 2017. The film has already received awards at the DOKer festival and became a laureate of the 'Message to a Man' competition. The project creates a space for free exchange of ideas: here, academic foundations meet real practice, turning the lecture into a platform for a lively conversation about the language of cinema and its future. In one day, one can hear the voices of different generations of specialists, compare their views, and feel how theory becomes a tool for directors and critics. It is simultaneously a classroom, a cinema hall, and a discussion club where new meanings are born and a dialogue about what cinema will be is built.
