About

On stage, young soloists and a large orchestra will come together to perform three contrasting concertos by Beethoven, Shostakovich, and Bartók. Evenings when three major scores are played in one concert are especially memorable. Here, Beethoven, Shostakovich, and Bartók meet on the same stage, along with soloists of a new generation and the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia named after E.F. Svetlanov. Such a lineup already sets a high bar: the listener comes not for the familiar background, but to observe how different musical worlds align into a single line. At the podium is Alexey Rubin. In the solo parts are cellist Ivan Sendetsky and pianists Alexander Klyuchko and Valentin Malinin. Each of them is responsible for their piece of history: monumental Beethoven with his fifth piano concerto, poignant Shostakovich with the concerto for cello, and tense, almost nervous Bartók. It will be interesting to see how the young musicians interpret different stylistic codes while remaining themselves-recognizable by their touch, sound, and character of the phrase. Beethoven's concert is about scale, confidence, and a sense of inner triumph. The orchestra opens up the space, the piano either blends into it with soft responses or takes the initiative and leads the entire hall. Shostakovich offers a different world: here there is more personal confession, sharp intonations, unexpected pauses. The cello line sounds like a very private conversation that somehow everyone hears. Bartók's music adds tension and almost physical drive to the evening: dense textures, sharp rhythms, and close interaction between the soloist and the orchestra. Where to go in Moscow on the weekend will be suggested by our website.
