The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, conducted by Vladimir Spivakov, and pianist Nikolai Lugansky will take the stage. The evening is dedicated to the music of Sergei Prokofiev - a composer whose works combine drama, innovation, and vivid emotionality. Pianist Nikolai Lugansky will perform alongside the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia. They will play the Second Piano Concerto with Orchestra. This piece is considered one of the boldest and most expressive in the composer's oeuvre. Also featured will be "Lieutenant Kijé" and "Romeo and Juliet." The suite about Kijé was the composer's first major work after returning to his homeland and quickly gained worldwide fame. The ballet about the tragic love story, first staged in Leningrad in 1940, remains one of Prokofiev's most recognizable works today. The current program for Moscow is presented on KUDAGO.
