Irina Kryukova's program will unite three centuries of French organ music - from strict Baroque to large symphonic canvases. Under the arches of the cathedral, compositions by Louis Marchand, Pierre Dandrieu, César Franck, and Charles-Marie Widor will be performed. Special attention in the program is given to the works of Louis Vierne and Charles Tournemire - composers who transformed the organ into a semblance of a whole orchestra with its richness of colors and mystical depth. Performed on a late 19th-century organ, French classics will sound exactly as the authors intended, and the acoustics of the space will recreate the very atmosphere of the Parisian cathedrals for which this music was written.
