Piano concerts are often called "intimate" - not because of the chamber-like sound, but due to a special type of communication between the artist and the listener. Here, nuances, timbral colors, and the breath of each phrase are important. And all this is presented by Dmitry Shishkin, one of the brightest representatives of contemporary Russian pianism. This program is a kaleidoscope of images, epochs, and genres. At the beginning of the evening, arrangements of Schubert's songs, processed by Liszt, will be performed. These are musical miniatures in which Liszt virtuously conveyed the content of the poems while preserving the poetic nature of the original. "Gretchen at the Spinning Wheel" and "The Erlking" are like theatrical scenes that tell an entire drama. And "Barcarolle" is a delicate and dreamy sketch, full of southern light and tranquility. Next are the grand "Ten Pieces from the Ballet 'Romeo and Juliet'" by Prokofiev. This is not just a selection of themes from the famous ballet, but an independent piano work in which the drama and emotions are conveyed no less powerfully than in the orchestral version. Here you will find the ominous Dance of the Knights, the fluttering of Juliet, and the scene of parting. The second part of the evening features Brahms and Tchaikovsky. Three intermezzos composed by Brahms in his mature years are often called "lullabies for the adult heart" - for their softness, depth, and poignant melancholy. The concert will conclude with an arrangement of the suite from the ballet "The Nutcracker," created by Mikhail Pletnev.
