The music of American composers performed by an orchestra and organ will create the atmosphere of New Year in the legendary city. The evening's program will feature works by American classic George Gershwin, Leroy Anderson, Scott Joplin - composers who masterfully blended classical traditions with jazz. Guests will also hear a medley on themes by Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra, as well as traditional Christmas hymns. In the winter of 1924, a landmark event for the music world took place in New York - the premiere of George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue." In fact, the young composer was simply experimenting. At the request of the famous conductor Paul Whiteman, he wrote a piece that combined the traditions of European classical music with a new style - jazz. The experiment turned out to be not just successful, but marked the birth of new music, without which masterpieces like the opera "Porgy and Bess" and the musical "West Side Story" would not exist. "Rhapsody in Blue" and other masterpieces will be performed by organist Luka Gadelia and the State Kremlin Orchestra. The evening will be enhanced by a multimedia installation.
