A duo of violin and piano will transport listeners to the sunny beaches of Latin America. In the Latin American program, passion and drama combine with a mood of serene contemplation. The duo of Marina Shiganova (violin) and Dmitry Maximienko (piano) will perform compositions that evoke the atmosphere of hot beaches and colorful streets of Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico. The program will feature the famous bossa nova "The Girl from Ipanema" by Antonio Jobim, the lively "Braziliera" by Darius Milhaud, the expressive "Pampeana No. 1" by Alberto Ginastera, the poignant "Estrellita" by Manuel Ponce, and the moving "Libertango" and "Oblivion" by Astor Piazzolla. The romantic atmosphere of the evening will be enhanced by the warm flicker of candles.
