The Stradivari Ensemble of the Mariinsky Theatre will perform for young listeners - a group that uses authentic instruments crafted by Italian masters of the 17th and 18th centuries: Stradivari, Amati, Guarneri, Guadagnini. Each violin and cello in this ensemble is a true cultural artifact. The ensemble was founded in 2009 at the initiative of Valery Gergiev and has since become a highlight of the concert life of the Mariinsky Theatre. The ensemble consists of leading soloists from the theatre's Symphony Orchestra, and its artistic director since 2013 has been violinist and conductor Lorenz Nasturica-Gershovich. He inspires the musicians to perform programs where classical music coexists with light dance pieces. The concert is aimed at families with children and will take place in an engaging format. We share ideas on where to go in St. Petersburg this weekend.
