Music written in different decades of the 20th and 21st centuries finds a new voice in the dialogue between cello and piano. Each piece in the program is a complete statement: from sorrow to inner transformation, from tension to absolute concentration. Three sonatas, three epochs, three different perspectives on the sound of cello and piano - this is how one can characterize this chamber evening. The program spans over half a century of academic music and demonstrates how language, form, and expressive means have changed while maintaining the depth of emotional content. The first piece is the sonata by Mieczysław Weinberg, written in 1945. It is one of the most significant works by the composer for cello, combining melancholy, strength, and a very personal experience of the time that came immediately after the war. The sound here is extremely honest, even confessional, without theatricality and external effects. Following Weinberg is Galina Ustvolskaya's "Great Duet" - a composition from 1959, in which the composer seeks to break the conventional chamber structure. Both instruments engage in a tense dialogue, with no compromises - only sharp angles, strong accents, and almost physical pressure of sound. Ustvolskaya rejects the term "chamber music," considering her music instrumental, not fitting into genre frameworks. The evening will conclude with a piece by Ivan Sokolov - a sonata from 2002. This is already the 21st century, and the musical language becomes even freer, more personal, and polyphonic. Sokolov speaks directly to the listener, not looking back at traditions, yet not rejecting them either. This piece becomes not just a conclusion, but a new starting point, a continuation of the line set by its predecessors. Young performers will take the stage - cellist Daria Lutsenko and pianist Vasilisa Bogorodskaya. Their interpretation emphasizes the dramaturgy of the program and allows listeners to traverse through different styles, hearing how time changes and how a vulnerable, focused human being shines through the music.
