The fatal waltz - as a symbol of the collapse of a beautiful era: from the refined play of Scriabin and Ravel with the dance gesture to the sharp, almost grotesque "Soldier's Tale" by Stravinsky. On one stage, a poem, a ballet fairy tale, and chamber energy will meet - and the listener will experience the sunset of romanticism step by step. The waltz can be different - from salon elegance to a dance on the edge of the abyss. This program is built around one gesture that gradually changes its face: in Scriabin's "Like a Waltz" one hears a shaky mystery and inner tremor, in Maurice Ravel - the brilliance of form and subtle irony, and then the dance begins to break and darken. In the first part of the evening, Ravel's "Noble and Sentimental Waltzes" will be performed by Varvara Kutuzova, along with his choreographic poem "Waltz" - in a piano arrangement by A. Gindin, played by Pyotr Yanovsky. Comparing these two views on dance is especially interesting: first - transparent rhythms and shades, then - a growing whirlwind where the melody seems to lose its support. The music will unfold like a cinematic scene: footsteps, turns, fragments of a celebration, and the "noisy" blows of the finale will be heard. In the second part, Igor Stravinsky's "Soldier's Tale" will be performed - a composition where the music argues with itself: seven instruments depict sharp, almost angular movements, and the plot hinges on a troubling deal - the soldier gives the devil his most valuable possession. The program is performed by the chamber orchestra "Phaeton". At the piano - Varvara Kutuzova and Pyotr Yanovsky; conductor Pyotr Yanovsky will maintain the form and tempo of this dramatic journey.
