A duo of organ and piano will perform music by outstanding contemporary composers. The concert will take place by candlelight in the famous Lutheran cathedral on Nevsky Prospect. Pianist Stanislav Chigadaev and organist Olga Kotlyarova have prepared a program featuring music by contemporary composers writing in the neoclassical style. Works by Ludovico Einaudi, Hans Zimmer, and Philip Glass will be performed. Italian Ludovico Einaudi has captivated millions around the world with his music for the film "The Intouchables" and many other instrumental pieces. His work is characterized by a reliance on minimalism, meditativeness, and fragile, transparent melodies. Hans Zimmer is a prominent film composer, known for his music in "Interstellar," "Gladiator," the animated film "The Lion King," and many other blockbusters. Philip Glass is one of the most influential composers of the second half of the 20th century, known for his operas, symphonies, and concertos, as well as music for cinema.
