In the Losev mansion on the old Arbat, piano pieces from the Romantic era will be performed. The hall of the ancient mansion will be filled with poignant melodies of Romanticism and the soft light of candles. Competition laureate Ekaterina Belykh will perform works by Frédéric Chopin, Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Waltzes, mazurkas, nocturnes, and other pieces will be played, reflecting a whole palette of emotions in a small form. The Romantic era is the time of flourishing for the genre of piano miniature. Music that was previously only danced to, and other applied genres gained deep imagery and meanings, along with technical virtuosity. Outstanding Romantic composers created both cycles of miniatures and individual pieces, many of which became masterpieces of piano music.
