The evening is dedicated to Nikolai Gumilev - a poet, traveler, officer, and one of the most dramatic heroes of the Silver Age. The program will feature songs based on Gumilev's poems and music by composers from different eras: Felix Mendelssohn, Francis Poulenc, Henri Dutilleux, Antonio Tauriello, Anton Arensky, Alexander Glazunov, Georgy Sviridov, and others. This proximity makes the program multilayered. Here, the conversation between poetry and academic music, between word and sound, between personal confession and great cultural memory is important. On stage will be laureates of all-Russian and international competitions - students and graduates of the Gnessin State Musical College. The host Natalia Mukhina will unite the works of the program into a cohesive narrative, where the literary context allows for a deeper understanding of the music and vice versa.
