The ensemble "Eastern Mosaic" will combine Indian vocal tradition with jazz improvisation, flamenco, soul, and original music. At the center of the program is a free dialogue between voices and instruments. Music from India, jazz, flamenco, and soul will meet in one program built around improvisation and live interaction among performers. The ensemble "Eastern Mosaic," led by Denis Kucherov, will turn to traditional melodies and rhythms but will view them as material for a free musical conversation. Familiar genre boundaries will become fluid here: the vocal line may continue with the saxophone, Indian rhythm may resonate in the guitar part, and the cello may add depth and softness to the sound. Kucherov will play the hang, tabla, and daf. The special guest will be Indian vocalist Mahesh Vinayakram, a representative of the modern Carnatic tradition. Its foundation is a complex system of melodic and rhythmic patterns, where the art of improvisation holds great significance. Joining him will be Gayatri, a Russian singer of Indian descent, working at the intersection of traditional Indian vocals, jazz, soul, and contemporary world music. The instrumental part will be complemented by Vladimir Slobodin on flamenco guitar, Mikhail Shipov on saxophone and flute, and Elizaveta Usovich on cello. This lineup promises a wide range of colors-from transparent acoustic sound to dense rhythmic episodes. Where to go in St. Petersburg today, look for on KUDAGO.
