In one evening, the brilliant irony of Sergei Prokofiev will merge with the Pushkinian poetic quality of Georgy Sviridov. The Admiralty Orchestra of the Leningrad Naval Base will perform two scores that have long become classics of the Russian musical scene. The two famous scores share a rare ability to communicate with the listener through images - precise, vivid, and easily recognizable. On one hand, there is the sharp, mocking, almost theatrical music of Sergei Prokofiev, which grew out of cinema. On the other hand, there is the lyrical, plastic, and surprisingly Russian in intonation world of Georgy Sviridov, inspired by Pushkin's prose. The program will be performed by the Admiralty Orchestra of the Leningrad Naval Base under the direction of Nikita Ignatov. This ensemble has a long history dating back to the early 18th century.
