This summer, a boat with jazz artists on board will once again set sail on the Neva River. Guests of the 'Jazz Boat' can look forward to beautiful views of the city from the water, a romantic atmosphere, and a vibrant musical program. The 'Jazz Boat' is a project with a history. Jazz began to be performed on passenger vessels over a century ago in New Orleans. In the late 1960s, a musical boat appeared in Leningrad as well. Its initiator was the president of the jazz club 'Kvadrat', Nathan Leites, who gathered musicians for a cruise on the Neva, during which they played, communicated, and relaxed. Gradually, such cruises became part of Leningrad jazz, and since 2001, musical voyages have been held regularly. The new season of the St. Petersburg 'Jazz Boat' will open on May 16. A boat with two glass-enclosed decks will set sail on the Neva. Artists will perform on the lower deck, with a program featuring Dixieland and jazz classics. On the upper deck, guests will be able to socialize, stroll, and admire the city. The route covers key landmarks: the Admiralty, the Hermitage, the Peter and Paul Fortress, and views of the city from the Gulf of Finland. The salon of the boat has tables for two, four, and six people with free seating.
