"Pop-Opera" blurs the lines between the academic genre and popular music. In anticipation of the Old New Year, artists from the Mariinsky Theatre and Muzkomediya will perform opera arias, global pop hits, and Soviet songs familiar to everyone. On the stage of the "Coliseum Arena," a bright New Year show will unfold, combining opera classics and popular music. The concert will feature tenor Igor Barbakov, mezzo-soprano Regina Rustamova, soprano Anastasia Simanskaya, soprano Svetlana Kiseleva, and baritone Alexey Shtykov. The artists, whose art delights opera lovers, will demonstrate a subtle understanding of the rhythm and poetry of popular hits, while vibrant symphonic arrangements will reveal new facets of familiar music. The program will include New Year and Christmas music: arias from operas, foreign Christmas hits, songs from the Soviet stage and cinema. The magic of music will unite artists and audiences, classical and modern. This evening will become one of the bright musical events of St. Petersburg at the beginning of the year.
