Five centuries ago, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina was born - a composer who changed the course of vocal music history. On this evening, the Intrada ensemble, conducted by Ekaterina Antonenko, will perform the sacred works of Palestrina and Victoria, recreating the sound of the High Renaissance. In this concert, two outstanding names of the Renaissance will meet - Palestrina and Victoria. Their works are jewels of the polyphonic tradition, where each vocal part becomes an independent expression. Music written almost five centuries ago resonates today with unwavering power and depth. On stage is the vocal ensemble Intrada, led by Ekaterina Antonenko. This group is well-known among connoisseurs of early music. The ensemble works with original scores and strives for an authentic sound. This means that listeners will hear sacred compositions exactly as they sounded in the cathedrals of 16th century Europe. The evening's program includes landmark works by Palestrina: "Missa Papae Marcelli", "Alma Redemptoris Mater", "Magnificat Primi Toni", and several deeply spiritual motets. Each of these opuses is an example of the highest art of vocal polyphony, where prayer transforms into musical contemplation. The program is complemented by works of another master - Victoria. His motets will reveal new facets of the era's sound, showing how the same text can be interpreted in different ways.
