Vadim Eilenkrig and his jazz ensemble will join forces with the Governor's Symphony Orchestra in a grand program inspired by the legendary album by Miles Davis. Familiar compositions will receive a new sound. The Governor's Symphony Orchestra of St. Petersburg will conclude the series of opening season concerts with a program where jazz freedom meets the scale of symphonic sound. On stage with the orchestra will perform the jazz quintet Eilenkrig Crew led by Vadim Eilenkrig. At the heart of the evening are compositions from Miles Davis's album Kind of Blue, one of the most influential recordings in jazz history. This record became an important part of the genre's development due to its unusual approach to improvisation, harmony, and musician interaction. The symphonic version will allow familiar themes to be heard in a new interpretation, where chamber expressiveness will merge with the richness of a large orchestral ensemble. Eilenkrig will perform on trumpet alongside members of his ensemble: Dmitry Ilugdin on piano, Alexander Rodovsky on guitar, Armen Mkrtchyan on bass guitar, and Vitaly Epov on drums. The musicians will maintain the characteristic freedom of dialogue found in jazz, while the new arrangement will expand the sound of the compositions and add new colors to them. Sharing ideas on where to go in St. Petersburg this weekend.
