The opening of the season of the Stradivari Ensemble of the Mariinsky Theatre promises to be an event with a special sound. Legendary instruments, outstanding soloists, and a profound program uniting Britten, Stravinsky, and Schubert - all of this will create an evening filled with subtle musical poetry and inspiration. This collective is not just an ensemble, but a true sound gallery of unique instruments: each of them created by masters of the 17th-18th centuries, such as Niccolò Amati, Antonio Stradivari, and Giuseppe Guarneri. Their timbres are a rarity even for connoisseurs, and the combination with high performance mastery turns each performance into a precious musical experience. In the first concert of the season, three works will be performed, distinguished by stylistic brightness. Britten's "Simple Symphony" is filled with youthful spontaneity and melodic clarity. Stravinsky's Concerto in D for string orchestra, known as the "Basel", captivates with rhythmic precision and contrasts. And in the finale - the famous piece "Death and the Maiden", arranged by Mahler for string orchestra: powerful, dramatic, emotionally rich.
