The new concert season opens with a program featuring works by Dmitri Shostakovich and Antonín Dvořák. The symphony orchestra will present two large-scale compositions - a cello concerto and a symphony, filled with drama, expressive melodies, and deep artistic images. The concert unites the music of two composers whose works hold an important place in the history of classical music. The program will feature compositions by Dmitri Shostakovich and Antonín Dvořák - different in character but equally rich in expressive orchestral solutions. The evening will begin with Shostakovich's First Cello Concerto. This is one of the most famous works in the cello repertoire of the 20th century. The cello part will be performed by Sergey Slobachevsky. The program will continue with Dvořák's Third Symphony. This composition showcases a stage in the formation of the composer's style and reflects his interest in the large symphonic form. Conducting will be Alexander Chernushenko.
