Violin, piano, jaw harp, and flexatone will unite in an ensemble to perform music of the greats and contemporary compositions. The concert program will feature works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Georges Bizet, Jean Sibelius, Nikolai Rubinstein, and Nikolai Cherepnin. The ensemble, consisting of Alexander Rovner, Alexander Kuznetsov, David Evdokimovsky, Stanislav Oskolkov, and Lyudmila Rodionova, works thoughtfully and carefully with the material. Echoes of chorales and ancient dances can be heard here and there, as well as the nervous pulse of the big city and the personal intonations of the author. The sound of the jaw harp and flexatone, combined with the violin and piano, reveals unexpected shades of familiar works.
