Ekaterina Melnikova will showcase the organ through the Russian musical tradition - colorful, soulful, and vibrant. The organ is often associated with the Western European tradition, strict architecture of sound, and church heritage. This program offers a different perspective on the instrument - through Russian music, where it can sound soft, picturesque, with a broad breath and almost vocal expressiveness. The evening features compositions by Alexander Borodin, Anatoly Lyadov, Sergey Taneyev, Sergey Prokofiev, Dmitri Shostakovich, as well as original pieces and arrangements. At the organ is Ekaterina Melnikova, a graduate of the Moscow State Conservatory named after Tchaikovsky and a postgraduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London. She has performed in major Russian halls, was a soloist with the Moscow Philharmonic, and the principal organist of the Moscow Roman Catholic Cathedral, giving masterclasses in Russia, Europe, the UK, and the Middle East.
