For the first time, a modern reconstruction of the lost masterpiece by Johann Sebastian Bach, dedicated to the memory of his patron and friend - Prince Leopold of Anhalt-Köthen, will be presented to the Russian audience. "Köthen Funeral Music" is a work that has not survived to us alongside other works of Bach's Köthen period. For centuries, it was known only from historical sources, but recently musicologist and harpsichordist Alexander Ferdinand Grichtolick released a modern scientific reconstruction of the legendary masterpiece. It is based on the preserved libretto and fragments from compositions (including "St. Matthew Passion") with a similar artistic structure and a number of melodic connections. Within the walls of the cathedral, there will be a revival of one of the lost pages of the maestro's legacy. In Russia, the work will be performed for the first time by the Collegium Musicum ensemble under the direction of Oleg Romanenko.
