The sound of cymbals, guzheng, gusli, and kanon accompanied by a symphony orchestra is a rare and vivid phenomenon. The gala concert of the international festival unites the traditions of different countries, the cultures of the East and West, folk instruments, and contemporary compositional art in one powerful musical statement. The gala concert "Youth of Ancient Strings" is an event where folk instruments come alive in the sound of the symphony orchestra. Multi-stringed fretless instruments - from Belarusian cymbals to Chinese guzheng and Armenian kanon - take the stage of the St. Petersburg Chapel accompanied by a powerful symphonic sound. The festival has been held since 2000 and has long become an international platform where performers, composers, and conductors from Russia, China, Armenia, Belarus, and other countries meet. The goal of the project is to preserve traditions and give them new life, showing how ancient instruments can sound in the 21st century. The first part of the concert is dedicated to traditional Chinese instruments: world premieres will be performed, including works by Li Jun and the duo Jin Jianxuan - Wang Zhongshan, revealing the philosophical depth of Eastern music. The second part will transport the audience to Armenia, Belarus, and Russia: here the kanon, ringing gusli, and cymbals will sound - all in modern arrangements and original works.
