By combining works written in youth and maturity, the musicians create a deep and multifaceted portrait of one of the most mysterious composers of the 20th century. The concert begins with two pieces for string octet - compositions by a bold, talented young man just entering the world of great music. In these pieces, there are dreams, energy, and a touch of irony. The second part of the Fifteenth Quartet, on the other hand, was written decades later - during a dark period of illness and pain. Meditative and tragic, it sounds like a personal confession, a slow farewell to life. The thematic center of the concert is the Chamber Symphony op. 110a. This is the famous arrangement of the Eighth Quartet, which Shostakovich himself called an epitaph for himself. In this music, there is sorrow, memory, personal pain. The counterpoint to it is the bright, almost weightless second movement of the Piano Concerto with orchestra, written for the 19th birthday of his son - a poetic and lyrical center of the program. On stage are international competition laureates Maria Kovaleva (piano) and Danila Alexeev (violin), as well as the artistic director of the ensemble, Serafim Yakovlev.
