About

The concert-lecture about Robert Schumann is a journey through the era of Romanticism, filled with poetic images, live music, and personal stories. Nastasia Filatova will connect word and sound, revealing the composer's secrets through his work and biography. The concert-lecture "Schumann. Life Path" will be part of the series "Intellectual Breakfast at Lermontovka" and will offer the audience a profound musical-biographical journey. The talk will focus on the life and work of Robert Schumann - one of the greatest romantics of the 19th century, whose fate intertwined with music, philosophy, love, and suffering. The program will feature reflections on the composer's youth, his passion for literature, his meeting with Clara Wieck, and the turning points in his personal and creative life. Musical pieces will be accompanied by stories that reveal the author's inner world - his humor, anxieties, and intellectual quests. Special attention will be given to the unique symbiosis of text and music, where each chord acquires new meaning. The evening will be hosted by Nastasia Filatova, a musician, philologist, and educator known for her concert-lectures on great figures in the arts. In her role as a storyteller and pianist-illustrator, she organically connects sound and word, creating a deep and inspiring atmosphere. Listeners will learn what it means to be a romantic in music, how Schumann's personality was formed, why his compositions are so close to the heart, and what place love, philosophy, and the fear of madness held in his life. The story told through music will help re-evaluate familiar views on creativity and feel the power of art in a new depth. Our website features the current program of St. Petersburg.
