It is a dialogue of epochs, temperaments, and sounds - performed by young, charismatic artists. On the second day of the piano festival at the Mariinsky Theatre Concert Hall, a large-scale program will be presented, covering several centuries, cultures, and styles. The focus is on the dialogue between soloist Ksenia Bashmet and the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Fyodor Khandrikov. In the first part of the concert, the audience will hear the famous D minor concerto by Johann Sebastian Bach - a composition in which the keyboard leads a dramatic, almost theatrical monologue. This opus requires exceptional concentration and musical thinking from the soloist, allowing for the inner architecture of the baroque form to be revealed. Next, Benjamin Britten's "Young Apollo" will be performed - an exquisite and delicate piece written for choir and strings in the spirit of ancient plasticity.
