Pianist-composer Riad Mammadov is preparing a performance in which jazz does not shy away from improvisation but exists within a classical form. The focus is on working with sound and attempting to view the usual relationship between strict structure and improvisation differently. The program includes works by Keith Jarrett and Michel Petrucciani, the composition Blackbird by Paul McCartney and John Lennon, Mammadov's pieces The Letter and The Morning After, as well as Andante by Johann Sebastian Bach.
