The project "Classics and Jazz" combines the symphonic restraint with the freedom of jazz improvisation. The Kaliningrad Chamber Orchestra and Alexander Maslov's trio will breathe new life into the masterpieces of Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Glinka, reinterpreting them in a dynamic and unexpected way. A bright musical event will take place at the Capella concert hall, where academic rigor will merge with improvisational freedom. As part of the "Classics and Jazz" program, the Kaliningrad Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and Alexander Maslov's jazz trio will perform on the same stage. The audience can expect original authorial adaptations of works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Mikhail Glinka, and other composers - from "The Nutcracker" to "Life for the Tsar." The Kaliningrad Regional Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra named after E. F. Svetlanov is widely known in Russia and beyond. The ensemble is recognized for its performance mastery and genre flexibility: its repertoire includes baroque, classical, contemporary music, and even crossovers. The artistic director of the orchestra is Elena Tolkacheva, a laureate of international competitions, who adds special inventiveness and expressiveness to the programs. The orchestra will be joined by Alexander Maslov's jazz trio, consisting of pianist and arranger Alexander Maslov, double bassist Philipp Meshcheryakov, and multi-instrumentalist Pavel Chizhik. The trio specializes in reinterpreting academic works in a jazz key, revealing fresh intonations and rhythmic freedom.
