About

The organ evening will feature compositions ranging from baroque strictness to romantic expression. Instead of the previously announced soloist, the People's Artist of Russia Vladimir Khomyakov will perform - a master of large forms and subtle nuances. The program includes works by Böhm, Buxtehude, Bach, Mendelssohn, Franck, and Lefébure-Wély, revealing the richness of timbres and the scale of the instrument. The evening of organ music is structured as a journey through several eras - from the baroque architecture of sound to the romantic expressiveness of the 19th century. At the console is Vladimir Khomyakov, a musician with vast concert experience, whose interpretation is always characterized by thoughtful dramaturgy and attention to the details of the score. In the first part, compositions from the North German school and Johann Sebastian Bach will be performed. Böhm's chorale prelude and Buxtehude's prelude set a strict, collected tone, after which the scale of Bach's forms unfolds in all its fullness - the trio sonata, prelude, and fugue demonstrate the complexity of polyphony and the brilliance of organ texture. The lines of voices intertwine, creating a sense of internal movement and clear logic of development. Special attention in the interpretation is given to registration - the change of timbres emphasizes contrasts, highlights hidden intonations, and allows every detail of the complex musical fabric to be heard. The organ presents itself as an instrument capable of conveying both chamber concentration and the monumental power of cathedral sound. The second part transports the listener to a different sound environment. Mendelssohn connects the baroque tradition with romantic lyricism, Franck enriches the music with philosophical depth, and Lefébure-Wély adds theatricality and vivid imagery. The contrasts of timbres, dynamic bursts, and smooth lines create a cohesive dramatic arc, where each piece becomes a self-contained statement.
