About

Students of the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory will perform before the audience - young performers for whom this evening will be an important step on the way to the professional stage. The program includes compositions by Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and other composers, as well as special participation by laureates of international competitions. Musical evenings at the M.Yu. Lermontov Library take on special meaning when it comes to meeting the future - with young musicians who are just starting their journey in academic art. The first concert of Rodion Tolmachev's class, a senior lecturer at the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory and a soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, will gather all his students on one stage, as well as concertmasters and guests - colleagues from leading orchestras in the city. The program will feature works by Bach, Mozart, Weber, Tchaikovsky, Tansman, Bich, Miroshnikov, and Villa-Lobos. This evening will showcase performances by such artists as Ilya Zuzulin, Vasily Malakhovsky, Grigory Lebedev, Polina Sapozhnikova, Yegor Prisakary, Nikita Komarov, Roman Ogar, Nikita Shchegolkow, Vasily Zakharov, and Sergey Melnikov. The concertmaster accompaniment will be provided by Kim Chzha Ran and Sofia Medintseva. Special guests of the evening will include Ruslan Zalautdinov - an artist of the Mikhailovsky Theatre Orchestra, and Sofia Viland - a flutist, laureate of the XVII International Competition named after P.I. Tchaikovsky, and a soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra. Two parts, almost two hours of music, and one intermission between them - all this will be part of an important event not only for the students but also for the listeners who will witness the beginning of great creative biographies. For some, it will be a discovery of new names, for others - an opportunity to hear works rarely performed in academic venues. The event will be an informal yet substantial celebration of academic music - in the best traditions of the library's educational mission.
