The anniversary evening of Alexander Chaikovsky will gather an orchestra, a folk ensemble, a choir, and soloists on one stage to bring to life ancient stories about princes, battles, and choices that determine the fate of the country. The anniversary concert of Alexander Chaikovsky is conceived as a large-scale statement about Russian history, where the heroes of chronicles appear surprisingly modern. At the center of the evening are two major scores by the composer, in which ancient texts are combined with the language of academic music, theater, and cinema. The State Symphony Orchestra "New Russia" is responsible for the symphonic fabric. It is joined by the State Academic Russian Folk Ensemble "Russia" named after Lyudmila Zykina, as well as a large combined choir gathered from several renowned groups and student ensembles. This union creates a sense of a large-scale folk action, where each voice is part of a common canvas, from tense episodes to bright choral turns. Solo parts are entrusted to bright artists. The alto line is performed by Yuri Bashmet, the verbal layer is revealed by Sergey Garmash, and the role of Yaroslav the Wise is taken on by Andrey Merzlikin. They are joined by countertenors Vladimir Magomadov and Oleg Ryabets, and domristka Ekaterina Mochalova. Thus, a dynamic scene arises, where the orchestra and choir constantly interact with the living word, picking up intonations and enhancing psychological accents. The center of the program consists of two works. The dramatic symphony "The Tale of Igor's Campaign, son of Svyatoslav, grandson of Oleg" transforms the ancient text into a tense musical narrative about the ruler's choice and the price of a mistake. The choral opera "The Tale of Boris and Gleb, their brother Yaroslav the Wise and Svyatopolk the Accursed, about wicked robbers and the good Russian people" unfolds a circle of themes - from personal guilt to collective memory.
