The anniversary evening will unite the orchestra "Gnesin Virtuosos", a large children's and youth choir, and a vibrant program where the drama of Tchaikovsky meets the rhythm and brilliance of Gershwin. This concert is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the collective and is structured as a grand festive evening, combining orchestral scale, choral sound, and a bright stylistic palette. On stage will be the orchestra "Gnesin Virtuosos", the combined choir of the Children's Music School and the Moscow State Special Music School named after Gnesin, conducted by Mikhail Khokhlov. The program features Tchaikovsky and Gershwin - composers from different eras and temperaments, both capable of instantly capturing the audience's attention. The evening begins with Tchaikovsky's music. The overture-fantasia "Hamlet" reveals the dramatic side of his symphonic gift: in this composition, one can hear internal tension, contrasts of characters, and almost theatrical sharpness of feelings. Nearby, the Concert Fantasy for piano and orchestra sounds - a piece that appears less frequently in programs and is therefore particularly interesting for those who want to discover a less familiar Tchaikovsky. Here, virtuoso scale, lyrical quality, and broad romantic gestures are important. In the second part, the focus shifts towards American music of the 20th century. Gershwin's Piano Concerto with orchestra, as well as the famous numbers Summertime, Clap yo' hands, and The man I love, give the program a different pulse - freer, rhythmic, and visually bright. In these compositions, jazz intonations, popular expressiveness, and academic form coexist, creating music that easily appeals to both the discerning listener and those who are just beginning to attend large concerts.
