An unusual concert will take place as part of the Winter International Arts Festival of Yuri Bashmet. The Al Firdaus ensemble will perform forgotten music of Muslim Spain. From the Arabic "al-firdaus" later arose the Romance term paradiso. "Paradise", "abode of righteous souls" - this is how the performers from different countries, who united in 2012 in Granada, Spain, named their collective. The aim of the ensemble is to revive the forgotten musical culture of Arab Spain. After the completion of the 800-year Reconquista, it seemed that everything Eastern had forever left the Iberian Peninsula, yet it left deep, indelible traces in Spanish culture. Concert guests will hear unique music. The ensemble's style combines traditions of European and Celtic music, flamenco, and Sufi heritage. The vocal pieces are performed by the artists in Arabic, as well as in the centuries-old banned Castilian language alhamido, written in Arabic script.
