The program includes works by Lebedze, Retinsky, Gubaidulina, and Kaija Saariaho, with live commentary to help hear the details. Contemporary academic music often begins with the question: what can sound do besides "sound beautiful"? On this evening, several composers provide answers - each in their own way. Here, timbre, the breath of the orchestra, sharp bursts of silence, and how the listener's attention shifts from measure to measure are important. The format is designed so that the listener does not lose the thread even in the boldest episodes. The program features two world premieres. Lebedze has written the piece "I Want Sounds to Shine," created as part of the "Kurchatov Lab": expect a delicate play with colors and a feeling that sound has its own light. Retinsky will present "Epitaph for Sofia Gubaidulina" - a musical gesture of memory and respect. Next, In tempus praesens - the Second Violin Concerto with Orchestra by Gubaidulina will be performed: the soloist's part here requires both strength and utmost concentration, and the dramaturgy is built on the clash of energy and inner silence. Violinist Daniil Kogan takes center stage, but the orchestra remains an equal partner. At the podium is Alexey Rubin.
