The winter program of the V.S. Popov Big Children's Choir combines Christmas carols, kolyadki, and familiar melodies in different languages. In one concert, Bach and Sviridov, folk tunes and New Year's songs coexist, creating a cohesive and warm musical narrative. In this concert, winter sounds different - as a quiet lullaby, as a joyful song by the Christmas tree, and as solemn spiritual music. The V.S. Popov Big Children's Choir arranges the program so that familiar motifs gradually come together to form a unified Christmas picture. There are no sharp contrasts here - each piece continues the previous one and gently shifts the mood. The focus is on choral sound, where children's voices convey both the solemnity of the holiday and its intimate side. The program includes kolyadki and Christmas carols, popular winter songs, and pages of academic music. Works by Bach, Handel, and Schubert will be performed, along with Russian classics, music by Georgy Sviridov, and songs that are hard to imagine New Year's days without. The multilingual nature of the program expands the usual range of sounds and shows how the theme of Christmas is understood differently in various countries. The choir performs under the direction of Anatoly Kislyakov. An important feature of this evening is the participation of the entire ensemble: both the youngest students and the older choristers take the stage.
