Baroque music will sound lively and contemporary: the chamber orchestra Vox Cordis will connect Vivaldi and Bach with Purcell and Corelli, with the central idea of "new understanding" and the freedom of historical sound. Four violins, cello and basso continuo, soprano voice and the dramatic "Dido's Lament" will weave into a story where the ear catches the nuance of each phrase. Baroque often seems like a museum exhibit - beautiful, but seemingly detached from our everyday life. This evening will break the distance: Vox Cordis will show how the music of the 17th and 18th centuries can speak directly if heard without "gilding" and listener stereotypes. The dramaturgy will be built on contrasts and details.
